Hi Amy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.


I actually started out as a writer, I was freelancing right out of college. Storytelling has always been the thing underneath everything I do. I joke that I got into this line of work to afford my screenwriting habit, but honestly, there’s a lot of truth to that.

Like a lot of writers, I eventually realized the industry was changing fast and “just being a writer” wasn’t really enough anymore. Fewer people were hiring writers in the traditional sense, so I started learning what businesses actually needed help with: branding, SEO, websites, digital marketing, and clear online communication.

What surprised me was how much of it still came back to storytelling. Most businesses don’t actually have a product problem. They have a communication problem. They know what they do, but they struggle to explain why people should care.

I started helping friends and local businesses improve their online presence, and over time, that evolved into Lewis Carter Creative. The work grew organically through referrals and relationships, mostly because I focused less on “making things look cool” and more on helping businesses sound human, feel credible, and connect with the right audience.

Today, I work with businesses across a variety of industries, helping with content, messaging, SEO, websites, and overall digital strategy. A lot of what I do is helping companies figure out how to stand out online without sounding like everyone else online.

At the end of the day, I still think of myself as a writer first. The tools just changed.
